7/11! Free SLURPIES! But I didn't get one. Today I woke up when Sylvia was leaving for work even though I didn't have to be into the Louisville office (357 McCaslin Blvd. Louisville, CO) until noon. Last night the Director of Training (West) Kristin Krasowski had sent me a text message alerting me that I didn't need to come to the office until then. Sylvia made me a delicious breakfast of toast with jam and eggs. Sylvia's kind of strange--she puts her jam on her eggs. I took Puff (Sylvia's pomeranian pup) out for a light jog/walk past the golf course and under the highway on a route where there are a lot of bikers. I went back to Sylvia's and got ready there and headed out to Westminster Colorado! I'm staying at the Springhill Suites here.
Fortunately I had some time to relax and unpack most of my suitcase. When you walk in the door there is a small kitchenette that really only has a microwave, mini fridge, and tiny sink...so my cooking will be very limited.
To your immediate left is a sitting area with a pull out couch and a desk (not pictured) where the only ethernet plug is. There is no wifi so it is a little bit of a pain to use the internet. In the picture you can see a large picture frame that Eric packed for me and now I am so glad I brought it! It cheers me up to see pictures of friends and family whenever I leave or come in.
This area is the bedroom (obviously) with a king size bed and a nice large window. It looks like a pretty typical hotel room. The flat screen TV is on a dresser on a swivel in between the two rooms so that it is accessible to watch in either room.
Here you can see my vanity area. I was soooo thankful to have a full length mirror :)
Annnnnd the bathroom! The shower is very nice with granite walls.
On my way to the Louisville office I stopped and got some Starbucks. They have a new frappuccino called the Mocha Coconut (I'm sure you can guess on your own what that means). It was pretty delicious. I made it on time to the office and met with Kristin to begin my assessment test.
I had around 3 hours (though I only used 2) to take the test, and it was 153 questions long. It was online on the computer. I didn't do too well, I got a 50, but Kristin assured me that wasn't bad at all, and that the test was meant for people ready to take their CNIM (Certification in Neurophysiologic Intraoperative Monitoring) which I won't be doing for at LEAST 7-8 months.
After going through some things on the website and attempting to set up other things we finished for the day around 5 pm. There are two other trainees staying at the Springhill Suites with me, but they have already been here for about 3 weeks. Kenyatta just finished her Doctor of Chiropractics and decided to go into this field. I haven't met her yet but she is from Florida and will be working there after training in Jacksonville. Danny Purple is from Las Vegas and is 38 and married. Kristin gave the other two trainees my numbers so that we could meet up.
I went to Target to pick up snacks and food as well as some toiletries. I took my time and didn't finish until 7 or 8 PM. Danny had texted me met me in the parking lot to retrieve the "dummy" which is essentially a heavy, foam mannequin that we use for practicing electrode placement and timing. We decided to grab dinner at Rock Bottom a restaurant near the hotel together. I got 2 HUGE pretzels and we talked and got to try some beer brewed in the restaurant. Apparently there are a lot of microbreweries in the area so there is a lot to try.
I got a lot of medicine from both Sylvia and Target so that helped some to put me to sleep without coughing!
